About Us

Hello, welcome to Montague Christian Church! We exist to love God, one another and our neighbour. Our hope is to do this together, in a loving and serving community, who live in authentic relationship with one another. As a community, we look to Jesus as our guide, and trust the Bible for its ancient wisdom and relevant instruction for life today.

Our Mission & Vision

Our vision as a Church is to be a community of people growing and becoming more and more like Jesus, nurturing one another in our faith and sharing Jesus through the love of neighbours.

We value the Bible as the story of God’s love for the world, holding authority over our lives, leading us to grow into God’s image. We recognize Jesus as God in flesh, who came to serve and love all people. We, therefore, seek to love one another and our community in that same spirit of self giving love.

Our Story

The story of Montague Christian Church goes back as far as 1812 with the arrival to the area of a man named Alexander Crawford. His ministry was carried on by others until, leading to the construction in 1876 of what is now the original brick church building. This building was dedicated in 1879 with Dr. John Knox preaching the dedication ceremony.

Ministry continued out of that building for over 100 years, with many individuals and families raised on the teachings of Jesus and carrying His message of reconciliation and salvation across the community and the world. In 19__ an addition was completed to house the growing church community providing adequate auditorium space, a kitchen and a downstairs Sunday School area.

Today, individuals and families continue to gather with the diversity of the Three Rivers area represented in the congregation.
